INTERRAIL 2015 - NETHERLANDS TO

DEUTSCHLAND

My intention was to record new work by uniquely showing an artist in their environment, getting close to the subject matter while offering a fresh look at the world. Making derives, from 14 days spent Interrailing across Europe with only a GoPro, iPad and a train pass in my possession. I documented observations and interactions along the way in response to contemporary psychogeography. This work demonstrates a balance between the architectural performance and urban design, executed through a moving image piece. After post-edit production of the video I worked with music composer Luke Thomas to whom I have collaborated with on previous projects and the results for this piece keep evolving, but have a quite repetitive... train-like momentum still.

As part of One Magnificent City - Cunard's 175th Anniversary Celebrations in Liverpool throughout the May Bank Holiday Weekend each evening from 10pm (24, 25 and 26 May) I am generating content for The Spirit of Liverpool section of the projection mapping that will be projected onto the facade of Liverpool's iconic buildings - The Royal Liver Building, The Cunard Building and the Port of Liverpool Building. As an artist from Liverpool, its a privilege to create artworks that celebrate Liverpool and its maritime links.

IPAD DRAWING: LIVERPOOL 2013

PRESS RELEASE Jordan L. Rodgers Drawing: Liverpool Solo Exhibition The Gallery Clove Hitch, Liverpool is pleased to announce Drawing: Liverpool, a solo show by Jordan L. Rodgers. The exhibition presents his cross-disciplinary way of working to bridge the gap between traditional drawing and drawing on the iPad. His interest in conservation and preservation of historical British landmarks and buildings offer an opportunity to do something different, to push boundaries. He is the Artistic Director of the campaign running to save the façade of the Futurist Cinema building on Lime Street another famous landmark in the city in serious danger of demolition. Reconnecting with the city where he was born by exploring the affect the changing nature of the built environment has on the collective imagination.

IPAD DRAWING: ARCH-VIZ 2013

I make use of the iPad as a tool to explore the comparisons between traditional drawing on paper and digital drawing applications. Since discovering Adobe Ideas, I have embarked on further research and exploration between art and technology as a means to record everyday journeys, drawn in the evolution of a Modern Metropolis.

iPad Drawing: London, England 2012

The act of looking during everyday passage through a city is an art form. Architecture presents a romantic vision for a humanistic city that is ever changing due to technical enhancements, it's just a matter of how we keep up with these changes. Video exploring the affect the changing nature of the built environment has on the collective imagination. Learning from the past to inform the future exploring the themes of: the future of society, sustainability, quality of urban life and transport is addressed.

iPad Drawing: Manchester, England 2012

Reconnecting with old landscapes and characters that quantify a personal portrait of Manchester.

iPad Drawing: Paris, France 2012

Reading the work of Guy Debord through the Theory of derive, I walk the streets of Paris. A thought has no beginning or end, recording the actions of the maker enables the viewer to move through the journey of creation using Google Street View.

First iPad drawings produced 2011

During my second/ third year as an undergraduate at Lancaster University on the Fine Art Practice & Theory course my research in art history and studio practice became innovative through the use of an iPad as a drawing device and from direct observation and via video feeds manipulated to become gallery size video installations. Video pieces entitled A Vision of Urban Utopia and Virtual derive both exhibited at We Were Here Summer Degree Show LICA Building and Peter Scott Gallery in June 2012, achieving "a rare breath for an undergraduate."
